Chagga Tribal Pride: Simcha Strong
The Chagga people migrated to Kilimanjaro over the course of 5-6 centuries. European accounts of the Chagga date back to the nineteenth century, with Johannes Rebmann, a missionary who arrived in 1848, being the first European to reach the summit. He was also the first to acknowledge the existence of Chagga settlements.
One notable member of the Chagga tribe is Paul Ngoty, whose history is deeply rooted in the Kilimanjaro and Serengeti regions. He embodies the spirit of his tribe and ancestral land, understanding that the mighty Kilimanjaro, the majestic Serengeti, and his forefathers of the Chagga tribe have been intertwined for centuries.
Like generations before him, Paul draws inspiration from his love for the land and a strong desire to showcase its majestic beauty. At the age of 16 in 1978, Paul Ngoty embarked on his first safari as a guide, and in his 48-year career, he has never missed a year of guiding safaris.
Paul has a profound understanding of the land, the terrain, and the animals' patterns. He is well-informed about the safari industry and the various companies involved. His main mission for his company is to achieve the number one status by ensuring strong customer satisfaction and providing unforgettable experiences. He is committed to hiring only the guides with the most experience or the best people skills, recognizing that this is the secret to success.
Throughout his career, Paul has participated in well-known projects and served as an ambassador driver for Tanzania. He has driven for the epic film "In the Wild" with Anthony Hopkins and has played a vital role in international relations, escorting Bill Clinton's staff during the Rwandan wars to ensure peace talks. Additionally, he was chosen as a safari guide for Joseph Ingram, the Vice President of the World Bank.
Over 48 years, Paul Ngoty has completed more than 19,500 safaris. Now, he is ready to pour all his experience and passion into his safari business, Simcha Safaris.
Paul's eldest daughter, Janeth Ngoty Brown, is inspired to carry on the family tradition of showcasing their tribal home in all its beauty to the world. As the chief business manager, she oversees all financial details and bookings, ensuring competitive pricing and quality for their valued customers. Janeth also manages customer relations and ensures compliance with safety regulations according to national standards. She makes certain that every vehicle is thoroughly inspected to minimize the chances of breakdowns during the safari experience.
